This seminar's main topics are the cultural hegemony of Western imperialism and it's dominating effects under the contemporary world capitalist system, and the histories of the postcolonial cultural resistances against them in the (de)colonized tricontinent of Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the practices and theories of cultural hybridity and transculturation in the global age.

This course examines Korean independence movement during the colonial period. This course covers the independence movement inside Korea : March First movement, June 10th movement in 1926, Kwangju student Uprising in 1929, Shin-gan Association, nationalist cultural movement, socialist movement, labour movement, peasant movement, etc. And it also covers the issues on the independence movement outside Korea : Korean Provisional Government, armed struggle, socialist movement, and anarchist movement, etc.
